Beyond the big names and star-studded parties, the Celebrity Championship is also committed to local charities. Since its inception in 1999, the Celebrity Championship has raised over $1.6 million for San Diego based charities. The noteworthy donations of the Celebrity Championship would not be possible without the generous contributions of the participating celebrities, businesses, and attendees who continue to support the tournament’s worthy causes each year.

The Junior Seau Foundation

Junior Seau founded the Junior Seau Foundation in 1992 to raise money and resources for programs that inspire young people to face life’s challenges with enthusiasm, hope and dignity. The foundation has since donated over $4 million to organizations providing services to educate and empower young people through the support of child abuse prevention, drug and alcohol awareness, recreational opportunities, anti-juvenile delinquency efforts and complimentary educational programs. This amount includes funds designated to an endowment fund which benefits, in perpetuity, programs supporting youth with the desire but not the means to improve their lives. Also included is $500,000 in scholarships distributed through the Scholars of Excellence program and over $365,000 towards Junior’s Shop with a Jock® program.
